The closing date for entry to the Seniors is that of the Ladies’ Centre’s AGM in April. A notice for sign-up goes up on the Centre’s board in mid-February and any 4 ladies can make up a rink to enter. It is usually divided into 2 sections drawn at random and games are played on Fridays, Session 2 during the first half of the season. The top 2 from each section play off in semi-finals and a final, which usually take place in the second week of December.
The competition was started by Sheila Miller in 2004. Sheila is still our sponsor. Rinks are chosen by club presidents and Centre office-bearers. The competition is played as a Bonspiel on a Monday, Session 2 at the start of the season.
This competition is open to players of all abilities. It is a fun event, usually held on the last Friday in November. A sign-up sheet goes up on club notice boards in October. Rinks are selected to give players the opportunity to meet and play with members from different clubs.
This competition is open to players of all abilities and takes place on the first Monday in March. Two games of 5 ends are played In Sessions 2 & 3. The Schenkel system is used for scoring. Rinks are drawn as in the Centre Bonspiel.
Scottish CurlingCompetitions – as national competitions these are open to all ladies curling at Curl Edinburgh and who are members of RCCC
Skips enter rinks directly on the Scottish Curling website. The closing date for entries is 30th June. Rinks entered from Curl Edinburgh compete for a place in the National Finals. Our playdowns usually take place in the first week of December with the winners progressing to National Finals at the beginning of March.
Morton Trophy
The Ladies Centre organizes the Morton games but participation is not restricted to Ladies’ Centre members – indeed all female curlers are encouraged to sign up and take part. The East section games are played against Borders (Kelso), Kirkcaldy and Kinross. Section winners progress to the national finals, played on a Tuesday at the beginning March.
Open to any rink of 4 ladies who are a member of ECC This competition is run as a round robin league in one or 2 sections dependant on entries. The sections are result dependent and promotions and demotions take place between the two.
Sellar
Open to ladies’ rinks from any curling rink and played as a Schenkel. It is advertised on the Ladies’ Centre and changing room noticeboards and in the Curl Edinburgh newsletter around December.
Open Ladies’ Pairs
Open to any pair of ladies and sponsored by ECC. It is advertised on the Ladies’ Centre and changing room noticeboards and in the Curl Edinburgh newsletter.
Midlothian Province Bonspiel
Organised by Midlothian Province – rinks from affiliated clubs participate, usually the last Monday in January
